In this new edition of our Lady Boss event, we are thrilled to welcome two iconic Women Entrepreneurs of the F&B industry in Indonesia: Janet DeNeefe, Founder and Director of Ubud Food Festival as well as the legendary Casa Luna restaurant and Cooking school in Ubud, and creator of Bali Off the Beaten Track culinary adventures, and Yoke Darmawan, Corporate Director of Sababay Winery, Consultant for multiple luxury hotels and restaurants, and Head of the UNWTO Ubud Gastronomy Destinations. We will have a fantastic insight into what drove them to work in this field, their insider stories, the challenges, and takeaways of their journey and what it takes to start, survive and succeed in the Food and Beverage industry! Join us for an inspiring event with the passionate and energetic team behind Jiwa Garden to learn how to turn half a hectare of land in Canggu into productive and educational gardens, why Bali soils and food security face serious challenges in the coming decades, how Jiwa Garden aims to alleviate them, how to make your own compost…and so much more!

Jiwa Community Garden is a green oasis in Canggu to gather, garden and grow. On around 45 are of previously unproductive land, the Jiwa team turns organic waste into fertile compost, produces organic vegetables and fruits, free-range eggs and offers a space in nature for the community to unwind. Most recently, Jiwa Garden built a Permaculture Learning Center that aims to conserve local wisdom and share regenerative agriculture practices with Bali communities.

We are passionate environmental activists who want to protect and restore Indonesia’s rivers by developing and designing simple barriers to stop the flow of plastic pollution from going into the ocean.

Astungkara Way is a not-for-profit organization on a mission, to bring Balinese youth back to farming their lands, as a compelling alternative to tourism work, and thus contributing to regenerate Bali’s ecosystem, build Farming Learning Centers to share climate change mitigating farming technique and reconnect humans to the ancestral lands of Bali with a coast-to-coast walking trail.
