The Internet, globalization and the sharing economy have ushered in a new era of business modelling with more specialization and complexity, farther reach and the potential to disrupt traditional markets. To prevail in this environment, start-ups as well as solopreneurs should know about what constitutes a modern business model and what methods to use to transform your idea into a successful business. I will introduce basic components of and concepts behind a business model, introduce methods for how to build and validate it, accompanied by examples ranging from a simple icecream booth to more complex ones like adwords-based eBook sales to Tinder, AirBnB or a co-working space.
